Problems joining AARP
AARP is a stewardship suite and, as such, puts pressure on state and national governments on matters that affect elderly Americans. This may be fine if you have an AARP rating on the issues you want to influence, but it’s not so good if your membership money supports initiatives that you oppose.
Another potential issue to be aware of is the percentage of junk mail your membership is likely to cause, including from our AARP. Early and incessant renewal calls, which sometimes lead individuals to mistakenly believe their membership is on the verge of failure, are a recurring source of complaints from new members.
Should I join AARP?
Is AARP worth it? Constantly familiarizing themselves with the lobbying of the whole group and tolerating junk mail is huge business for most people over 50. Only one night in a hotel or two dinners a year have the option to cover the member price and more.
Financial and medical resources and discounts are also exceptional and especially helpful during your transition into retirement. If you’re still not convinced, consider a one-year auto-renewal membership to see what discounts you get and how often you take advantage of the other benefits. When you consider how much you can get for your buck, you can have a lot more success than you can lose.
